I woke up today and decided I would take the kidlets to the mall after work. Deidre is here with us for Christmas and her 18 year old self would probably die of some unknown illness if shopping did not happen on a visit. I was geared up to go! lets get some last minute stuff out of the way right? WRONG. Spoke with the BF for only 4 minutes and heard - 'don't spend any money'....huh? I am going to the mall on December 22nd with 2 teens and a pre-teen and I am not supposed to spend any money? How is this supposed to happen? Some sort of pre Christmas miracle?
Just amazing that it took all of 30 seconds to knock the Christmas stuffing right out of me..just like that. The Grinch lives folks and he is my boyfriend. :)..and it has been like this for a month! He doesn't seem tow ant anything at all to do with Christmas this year...we have not been shopping together, he didn't help with the tree, and it took forever to get any lights up outside and in the windows and such. What is up with that?
I hope my duck is ok...but in the meantime, stop bringing us down at Christmas! Yes I know it's not all about the presents, it's not about the money spent, etc etc...but it is about the spirit, the excitement, and the magic and a big part of that is wrapped up in what we do together as a family.
Hitting the malls and finding that special perfect something for that special perfect someone is something that the girls love to do..it makes them feel so grown up:) For them it is right up there with making a Christmas craft (we made snowmen out of Styrofoam balls), baking cookies (we made 2 big batches together) and watching Christmas shows on TV. (so far the kids and I have watched at least 6 classics together).
Ahh well. I guess it is up to me to make sure Christmas is as Christmasey as Christmas is supposed to be for my girlie's and for myself.
Merry Hoho!
